The Armed Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS), and its predecessor, the Armed Forces Radio Service (AFRS), issued thousands of discs featuring music tracks as a part of its basic music library series. Our research has thus far turned up just one such disc on which Jimmy Stewart appears.
It is part of the AFRTS P-Series (P-14668) and was issued in 1974. This was a 12-inch, 33 1/3 RPM disc, which had songs from the then current album, That’s Entertainment (MCA Records MCA2-11002). The Stewart track included was part of a medley of Easy to Love and Putting on the Ritz; Stewart and Jane Powell (actually, Miss Powell’s vocals were dubbed by Marjorie Lane) duet on Easy to Love, while the second song is by Clark Gable. Short bits of dialogue from the film, Born to Dance, featuring Stewart and Powell are also heard.
Although we do not have a copy of this record in our personal collection, it is available at the Library of Congress.
