Art Baker’s Notebook was on the air from 1938 until 1958. The 15-minute syndicated show was heard weekdays. Jimmy Stewart appeared on the program just once, on Monday, January 20, 1947. The show was heavily advertised in various newspapers on the day of the broadcast. Here are just a few examples.
Regrettably, this show is not available, but fortunately the script is. Any listener could write in and ask for a copy of the script and one would be sent. This script for this show even came with a photo of Baker and Stewart.
The autographs are just facsimiles, not the real thing.
The cover of the script gave information about the program, the sponsor and the production credits.
Here is the script for you to read. Enjoy.
Just found this article from the February 22, 1947, edition of the Showmen’s Trade Review, which shows Stewart’s appearance and the offer of a free photo and script were part of a publicity stunt to promote the film, It’s a Wonderful Life.
