The Chase and Sanborn 100th Anniversary show had been broadcast by NBC on November 15, 1964. The one hour special was hosted by Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy. The show was later released as an album (RR-4H-5305).
The record included the Jimmy “Zeke” Stewart sketch with Mortimer Snerd, which had originally been broadcast on the show of May 10, 1953. It had also previously been used in 16th and 20th anniversary programs for the Edgar Bergen-Charlie McCarthy Show, so this is the fourth time it had been aired. The reason is quite simple…it’s very funny. And, it’s also a very different Jimmy Stewart that we get to hear. Although it has already appeared in other blogs, we’ll include the audio here again for your enjoyment.
