Many radio stations continued, and still continue to this day, to air classic radio shows from the golden era of radio well past the time when networks had stopped broadcasting new shows. The following preview appeared in The Indianapolis Star on January 21, 1988.
This version of It’s a Wonderful Life, stared Stewart, Arthur Q. Bryan (Clarence Oddbody), Hans Conried (Mr. Potter) and Barbara Eiler (Mary). It had been originally broadcast on May 8, 1949. An episode of Barry Craig, Confidential Investigator, was also heard.
Two other Golden Age of Radio shows have used Screen Directors’ Playhouse programs starring Stewart – Jackpot was covered in our April 26, 2016 blog and Next Time We Love can be found in the blog of March 29, 2016.
Of you have yet to hear this Screen Directors’ Playhouse version, or just want to listen again, we’ll include it here.
