The January 12, 1947, edition of Variety, had this story about Stewart and Frank Capra going to New York City to help promote It’s a Wonderful Life. Stewart is known to have appeared on Hi Jinx, Maggie’s Private Wire and the Martha Deane Show in January of that year. It is possible that he talked about the film on each of these programs.
We recently found this photo of Mr. Stewart receiving the “Key to the City” of Beaumont, TX. The back of the photo says that Mr. Stewart was in Beaumont promoting his new film, It’s a Wonderful Life.
One of the microphones is from radio station KRIC, which was either broadcasting live or taping the ceremonies. No audio or documentation of any such broadcasting has yet been uncovered.
Two articles, both appearing in the March 12, 1947, edition of Variety, also have Stewart and Frank Capra visiting Texas, Mexico City and London.
Although no radio listings have been located for any of these locations, it is likely that they appeared on at least a few.
