Let’s Talk Hollywood was covered in Jimmy Stewart on the Air based on listening to the program at the Library of Congress. The show is not in general circulation, but since the book was published, an online copy of the script has been located, so anyone can read it and enjoy what happened on the program.
The July 4, 1948, show on which Stewart appeared was the program’s premiere episode. As such it rated a display ad in many newspapers. Here’s the one which appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune, Salt Lake City, UT, on the day of the broadcast:
Also because it was the first show, some newspapers ran larger than usual previews and explained what the show was about. Here’s one from the Bluefield Daily Telegraph, Bluefield, WV:
Neither of these mentioned Mr. Stewart as a guest, but this short blurb from the Amarillo News-Globe, Amarillo, TX, did:
This letter, dated two months before the show premiered, is a recommendation to The American Tobacco Company that they sponsor the program. A list of possible guest stars is given and Stewart is on that list. The total cost of each weekly show is also given – $8,265.
