Mr. Stewart appeared on three documented Martha Deane shows as discussed in Jimmy Stewart on the Air. None of the shows is available.
The host of the Martha Deane Show was actually Marian Young Taylor. She hosted the show for 32 years on WOR-AM, in Manhattan. Her announcer was George Hogan.
Mr. Stewart was a guest on the program a second time on April 1, 1948. By the time of this appearance, the program had become a 45-minute show and was broadcast from 10:15 until 11 a.m. each week day. Here is the New York Times listing:
In our book, Jimmy Stewart on the Air, we speculated that Stewart may have been interviewed about the film, Call Northside 777, which had opened about two months prior to this date. However, since Brock Pemberton was also a guest on the show, at least some of the conversation must have been about the Broadway hit, Harvey. Pemberton was the producer of the show and had brought in Jimmy to replace Frank Fay as Elwood P. Dowd for a seven week period in 1947.
