Rope, a 1948 film starring Jimmy Stewart had very little music in its soundtrack. No soundtrack album was issued at the time and only one piece of music – Rope – Main Titles (Francis Poulenc/David Buttolph) – has been recorded by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and released twice through the years.
It was first issued on the 1995 CD, To Catch a Thief: A History of Hitchcock II (Silva America SSD 1045).
The next released came on 1999’s Psycho: The Essential Alfred Hitchcock (Silva Screen SSD 1101).
Finally, in 2013, Rope – Main Title was issued as a digital download and 2-CD set titled Alfred Hitchcock and His Music (Editions Milan Music/Warner Brothers WBUK3994372). The performer is not identified.
