Screen Directors’ Playhouse – Next Time We Love

In 1936, Jimmy Stewart had starred as Christopher Tyler along with Margaret Sullavan as Cicely Tyler in the film, Next Time We Love.

Now, fifteen years later, he was starring in a radio adaptation of the film, this time with Eleanor Parker as Cicely.

At the beginning of the show, Jimmy Wallington, the show’s announcer, brings on Parker and Stewart and they introduce the play this way:

Also starring in the broadcast were Gerald Mohr as Tommy Abbott, Leone Le Doux as Baby Kit, Bruce Cannon, Stanley Farrar and Joel Nessler.

At the end of the play, Parker and Stewart return to talk with Wallington. D.H. Griffith, the film’s director, joins them.

In the 1980’s, Golden Age Radio Theatre, Inc., began to syndicate old time radio shows to radio stations around the country. Each show was hosted by Victor Ives and delivered to stations on 12-inch vinyl discs. Next Time We Love was used as program #188 in that series.
