Although no special mention appears to have been made of the fact in any advertising for the program, this was the 12th anniversary of its first broadcast. As such, Stern presented a look back at some of his famous guests. Below is a display ad from The Terre Haute Tribune, Terre Haute, IN, for Sterns and other NBC programs.
Stewart’s clip appears very early in the program. Although Stern introduces it as coming from 1940, this obviously was not correct. In the one sentence we hear, Stewart is most certainly speaking of the film, The Stratton Story, which wasn’t released until 1949. So, it would seem far more likely that the clip is from Stewart’s April 22, 1949, appearance on the Bill Stern Show.
