The Glenn Miller Story, starring Jimmy Stewart as Miller and June Allyson as his wife, Helen, was released in the U.S. in February, 1954. At the same time, Universal-International issued a 16-inch, 33 1/3 RPM disc to radio stations. The record was pressed on red vinyl and featured 17 different spot announcements for the film.
The first track on the album features Jimmy Stewart speaking about the film.
The second track has June Allyson doing the same.
Stewart and Allyson are not heard on any of the remaining tracks, but their names are mentioned in each. Here are the remaining three 60-second spots.
These are followed by four 30-second spots.
Then come four commercials running 20-seconds each.
The final four spots each are about 15-seconds in length.
Radio spots for the 1960 re-release of The Glenn Miller Story can be found in our September 22, 2015, blog.
