The Naked Spur, starring Jimmy Stewart, Janet Leigh and Robert Ryan, was released in February of 1953. The original soundtrack music was written by Bronislau Kaper. The orchestrations were by Robert Franklin and Hans Sommer was the conductor. All music was recorded September 15 and 16, 1952. However, no soundtrack album was issued at the time.
Finally, in 2008, the soundtrack was released as part of a three CD set titled The Naked Spur: Classic Western Scores from M-G-M (Film Score Monthly FSM Vol. 11 No. 7). Besides The Naked Spur, the set also featured soundtracks for The Last Hunt, Escape from Fort Bravo, The Wild North and Devil’s Doorway.
