Welcome Travelers was an NBC daytime program which aired from 1947 through 1954. It was hosted by Tommy Bartlett and sponsored by Proctor & Gamble. It was broadcast from the College Inn Porterhouse of the Hotel Sherman, Chicago. A generic ad ran in many newspapers around the country to highlight the show.
Guests were picked from persons exiting buses, trains, planes, etc, or from the studio audience. Once on the program, they were asked questions about their traveling or invited to tell stories of their travels.
Only one reference to Jimmy Stewart appearing on the program has been found. That was in the Washington Post box listings for February 5, 1952.
The program is not available, but since Bend of the River was to go into general release about a week after this program, it is possible Stewart was in Chicago to promote the film and may have been questioned about it by Bartlett.
