Jimmy Stewart made at least three appearances on Bill Stern’s Sports Newsreel program. One of those was on April 22, 1949. Stewart even managed to have his picture appear, along with the sports radio listings for the day, in the Wisconsin State Journal, Madison, WI:
This show is not available. However, we know that Stewart was on the program to promote his new film, The Stratton Story, which was about the baseball player, Monty Stratton. The film had just had its U.S. premiere in Cleveland, OH, the day before this broadcast and would be opening in the remainder of the country in June.
A very short segment from this show was used in another Stern program on October 20, 1950. This was the 12th anniversary of the program and to mark the occasion, Stern played clips from previous shows. Here is the Stewart clip he used:
