The music for Broken Arrow, the 1950 film starring Jimmy Stewart, Jeff Chandler and Debra Paget, was written by Hugo Friedhofer, orchestrated by William Powell and conducted by Alfred Newman. No soundtrack album was issued at the time and the official release had to wait until 1999, when a CD was finally issued (Brigham Young Film Music Archives FMA/HF 105).
The CD comes with a 34-page booklet which has many photos from the film and each track fully annotated.
The sound was taken from the original optical tracks so the music is not perfect, but this is the only available soundtrack for the film and worth the search. According to the CD’s packaging, “all proceeds from the sale of the CD go towards the acquisition and preservation of film music elements.” The CD credits include:
Producer – James V. D’Arc, for Brigham Young University
