Day After Day may be very hard to find as a 78 RPM recording, but it has been released many times on various compilation albums and CD’s. There have already been two posts detailing some of these sources…here’s the third.
The three CD sets to be discussed here were issued in various European countries and Australia. Each release purports to contain songs from films, each sung by one of the stars. Of course, Day After Day is not from any of Stewart’s movies, but this didn’t seem to matter to the people who put these CD’s together. Stewart did sing in several of his films, but these songs were passed over in favor of Day After Day.
The first of these releases came in 1995. It was titled 100 Years of Cinema (Retro R2CD 40-25).
The Stewart song is the 11th track on the first CD in the set of two.
In 1997, the set was issued again with the same title and release number, this time as part of the Deja Vu Retro Gold Collection.
This set featured a 20-page booklet with many rare photos, whereas the 1995 release had only an 8-page book with no photos.
Finally, in 2007, these same two CD’s were issued as a part of a 5-CD set entitled The Movies (Déjà Vu).
They were the first two CD’s in the set and Stewart was still at number 11 on the first CD.
If you’ve never heard the song before, we’ll include it here so you don’t have to go searching for it in past postings.
