Radie Harris Show

As outlined in Jimmy Stewart on the Air, Harris was a writer for The Hollywood Reporter. Her regular column was called “Broadway Ballyhoo.” For many years, she hosted a radio interview program for both the Mutual and CBS networks.

Mr. Stewart appeared at least once on her program. This brief mention is from the radio listings of the New York Times on April 5, 1948.

The show is not available, but Stewart had two films – Call Northside 777 and On Our Merry Way – released in February and a third – Rope – had just been completed and would be released in August, so it is likely they talked about one or all of these films.

Years later, on March 21, 1985, Stewart attended a celebrity roast and tribute dinner for Miss Harris at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Others in attendance to pay tribute to Harris were Julie Andrews, Drew Barrymore, Milton Berle, Carol Channing, Phyllis Diller, Eva Gabor, Dorothy Lamour, Jack Lemmon, Mary Martin, Pamela Mason, Roddy McDowall, Gregory Peck, Robert Preston, Vanessa Redgrave, Alexis Smith, Robert Stack and Franco Zefferelli.
