Skyway to the Stars was a half-hour CBS musical-variety show hosted by Tex McCrary. The shows regulars included Kay Armen and the Raymond Paige Orchestra. The program was on the air for just one season – September 12, 1948 through May 22, 1949. It was broadcast Sunday afternoons at 4:40 p.m. eastern time.
Stewart appeared on the third show in the series, September 26, 1948. The best evidence for that is this preview which appeared in the September 25, 1948, edition of The Atchison Daily Globe, Atchison, KS:
From the title of the show and the fact that the other guest this day, like Stewart, was a pilot, it is probably safe to assume that flying was at least a part of what Mr. Stewart talked about.
The show was edited to 15-minutes for broadcast by the Armed Forces Radio Service (AFRS). On these broadcasts, Sgt. Russ Thompson acted as the announcer.
Neither the network nor the AFRS broadcast of the Stewart show is available.
