Since the publication of Jimmy Stewart on the Air, more information about the Army Day Drama for 1946 has come to light. Most importantly, we now know that the title of the show was This Is It, not Army Day Drama. The show remains unavailable, but we now know this information. First, here is a look at some of the radio listings for the program. The first appeared in the New York Times on April 6, 1946, the day of the broadcast.
Next is one from the Wisconsin State Journal, Madison, WI.
Finally, this display ad appeared in the Olean Times Herald, Olean, NY.
From these, we can see that the title of the play which was presented is This Is It. The ad also confirms that General Courtney Hodges would be the speaker.
The show was reviewed in the April 10, 1946, issue of Variety:
If there were any other actors, their names are not listed. However, we do learn the names of some of the crew. Howard L. Nussbaum was the producer, Larry Robertson the Director and Ranald MacDougall was the writer.
The reviewer had a lot of criticism for the show, especially the writing, but thought that Stewart did the best he could with the material.
