WCCS (AM 1160) calls itself “The Voice of Indiana County” and it certainly is that and more. With its studio located just across the street from the Jimmy Stewart Museum, it is a natural focal point for all things “Jimmy.” When Stewart came home to Indiana in 1983 for the dedication of his statue at the courthouse, located next door to the library which would eventually house the Stewart Museum, the station was on hand to record all of the proceedings.
Two years after the dedication, WCCS personality and Stewart’s chauffeur during his visit, Bill Otto, put together a 15-minute presentation to be played at a luncheon for the dedication committee and volunteers. Although not specifically made for radio, the tape was aired on Sunday, May 19, 1985. The following small article from the Indiana Gazette, announced the special broadcast:
This is a very special program and it’s time that those of you not in the Indiana, PA, area had a chance to hear it…enjoy.
